Kururi Castle, whose outer walls are similar to those of ancient castles, is a representative example of medieval and early modern castles on the Boso Peninsula, and the numerous ruins that remain in the surrounding area serve as valuable resources, conveying vestiges of the past to the present day.

Kururi Castle is a renowned castle that lasted from the Warring States Period to modern times in Boso. The castle tower is a reinforced concrete two-layer three-story building, built next to the site of the donjon in Shiroyama Park. It has a total floor area of 190 m2 and a height of 15 m. Kururi Castle is also called Ujou (rainy castle) – it is said that it rained every three days, 21 times in total during the construction of the castle. Kururi Castle

○It is 800m from the Kururi Kaido junction to the Kururi Castle tower, a 105m climb. The average slope is 13% and the maximum slope is 20%. The road to the castle ruins museum is paved, but there are stairs for 170m to the castle tower.
○The castle ruins museum is a two-story building, and the exhibits are on the second floor, but there is no elevator, only stairs with handrails.There is a multipurpose parking lot and multipurpose restroom.

To get to Kururi Castle, it is convenient to get off at Kururi Castle Sannomaru trace from JR Chiba Station on the highway bus “Capina”.It takes about 70 minutes from Chiba Station(East Exit No 21 bus stop) to Kururi Castle Sannomaru trace.The highway bus operated 9 times a day.
