Akebonoyama Agricultural Park is known as a "flower village where you can play, learn, and experience farmers' park," where you can enjoy flowers throughout the four seasons.
While some caution is needed for wheelchair users, support systems are in place, including the rental of electric wheelchairs and the "WHILL" electric mobility device, which can travel on slopes, steps, and unpaved roads.
The flower field in front of the windmill covers 1.2 hectares, and the best times to see the flowers are mid-April, mid-July (sunflowers), and mid-October (cosmos, etc.). In spring, there are 160,000 colorful flowers, including tulips.
The area includes a Japanese garden, greenhouse, bamboo grove, orchard, and restaurant, and can be explored in about two hours.
There are approximately 350 cherry trees, including Somei Yoshino, Jindai Akebono, Kawazuzakura, and Accolade varieties, and the best time to see them is usually from late March to early April.
Physically, the person is at a level where they can fully operate a wheelchair and move around, such as with lower limb paralysis.
In terms of facilities, there are some challenges, such as stairs and slopes within a certain range, but they are at a level where they can be used independently in a wheelchair.
There is a detour ramp from the many places for people with disabilities, and you can proceed to the main office without any stairs.
We offer two manual wheelchairs and four electric wheelchairs free of charge. The "WHILL" electric wheelchair is available for rent for a fee. Please pick up your wheelchair at the main office.

Sakurayama offers more than just cherry blossom viewing; it boasts breathtaking views of Fuse Benten Shrine, the Tone River embankment, tulip fields, and much more.
Wheelchair users can access the Sakurayama parking lot from the back gate, where the path is mostly flat.
The main entrance to Fuse Benzaiten is a staircase, but if you go around to the right, there is a paved ramp leading to the temple grounds. The ramp has a slope of about 15%, so if you do not have a strong assistant, you should rent an electric wheelchair or a WHILL.
After getting off the bus, it's less than a 10-minute walk to the entrance of Akebonoyama Agricultural Park. You descend a slope surrounded by trees to enter the facility. There's even a small waterfall in the woods.
After renting a WHILL scooter at the main building, head to the flower garden via the central parking lot. The path here is unpaved, and there's a steep slope at the entrance, so the WHILL scooter will come in handy.
The route from the flower garden through the back gate to "Hyotan Pond" is also suitable for wheelchair users. At Hyotan Pond, various flower rafts are set up from late December to March. Ice tulips are planted in the center, and violas are planted along the edges.
There are four access routes to Sakurayama, but the Sakurayama parking lot is the only route accessible to wheelchair users. There are also wheelchair-accessible restrooms, so wheelchair users who do not have a car should enter from here.
It's rare to find a place where you can enjoy both a relatively large pond-centered strolling garden and an authentic path. While it may not be entirely comfortable for wheelchair users, it's an enjoyable environment if you're using a WHILL wheelchair.
Upon entering the main gate, there are four steps, and the pathway is uneven.
The tea room, which requires advance reservations, is open to the public when not in use, allowing visitors to freely stroll through the tea garden. The path to the tea room involves stepping stones across a stream and is not accessible by wheelchair.
The back gate is mostly flat, although there are some slight bumps. Wheelchair users should use this entrance.
Akebonoyama Park has eight wheelchair-accessible toilets, making it a park that is friendly to people with disabilities.
The modern mobility vehicles(C2 and R), are available in the main building's office and in the museum's first-floor gift shop. The rental fee is ¥1,000 for 3 hours.
