Chiba Prefecture Approval No. A2979-1
(Japanese:千葉県承諾第A2979-1号)
The following diagram, "Barrier-free Stations in Chiba Prefecture," gives an overview of the railway lines in Chiba Prefecture. Stations with station numbers are displayed by number, and stations without numbers are displayed by station name. The links at the bottom show the nearest barrier-free stations to tourist attractions and accommodations.
This is a system whereby each railway station is assigned a number consisting of letters and numbers in addition to the regular station name. By using letters and numbers that are widely used around the world in addition to the station name, this system is implemented to make it easier for foreign tourists to identify the stations. The numbering symbol is displayed on station signboards installed within the station campus along with the station name. Station numbering is displayed as four digits, two letters and two numbers. The two letters are the name of the line, and the two numbers are numbers unique to each station on that line.
On JR lines in Chiba Prefecture, the Sobu Line Rapid Service uses JO⚪⚪, the Sobu Line Local Service uses JB⚪⚪, the Keiyo Line uses JE⚪⚪, the Joban Line uses JL⚪⚪, and the Musashino Line uses JM⚪⚪. On private railways, the Keisei Dentetsu Line uses KS⚪⚪, the Shin-Keisei Dentetsu Line uses SL⚪⚪, the Chiba Urban Monorail uses CM⚪⚪, the Hokuso Railway Line uses HS⚪⚪, and the Choshi Dentetsu Line uses CD⚪⚪.
