how to move between ticket gates and platforms

○If you are boarding a train in a wheelchair, go to the ticket gate where the station staff is and ask to board your wheelchair. Tell the station staff where you want to get off and wait at the location instructed by the station staff. Once the preparations are complete, the station staff will guide you to the platform.
○If the ticket gate floor and platform floor are different, use the elevator. If the ticket gate floor and platform floor are the same, continue straight ahead. There are also types of elevators, such as types with the same entrance, types with the entrances on opposite sides, and types with the entrances on the left and right sides. You or your caregiver will operate the wheelchair.

how to get on and off the train

○Most Japanese trains have steps between the boarding entrance and the platform, so it is generally not possible to board the train alone in a wheelchair. At most stations, station staff will set up temporary ramps for you."
○In rare cases, some railway companies, such as the Fukuoka Municipal Subway Nanakuma Line, have completely flat surfaces. The platform is also flat with no slope.

seats (including wheelchair spaces)

○When riding in a wheelchair, being near the door will get in the way of passengers getting on and off, so where is the safest place to be? Some JR trains have wheelchair spaces that are easy for wheelchair users to use.
○Some conventional limited express trains have wheelchair accessible seats. There is one empty seat for wheelchair-accessible seats, and wheelchair users must transfer to the seat and secure their wheelchair in that area.

wheelchair-accessible toilets

○One of the necessary facilities is a wheelchair-accessible toilet, as there are many long-distance trains, unmanned stations, and infrequent trains. Generally, you will be guided to a vehicle with a conductor present. However, if you are concerned about using the restroom, ask to be directed to a vehicle with a wheelchair-accessible restroom.
○The manager boarded the first car of the limited express train. On the way, I needed to go to the toilet. There is a toilet in car 2, so I started moving around inside the car using a cane in both hands, but I stopped because I didn't have the confidence to do so.
