In the Heian period, the missions to Tang China were abolished, and the Kokufu culture, which emphasized indigenous Japanese culture, developed. Emperor Saga was the leading figure in promoting cherry blossoms. As Emperor Saga loved cherry blossoms, cherry blossoms gradually became the focus of flower viewing. When it comes to flower viewing, "three-color dumplings" are an essential part. What do these three colors represent? In fact, they represent three seasons. White is "the light snow of winter," pink is "the faint cherry blossoms of spring," and green is "the refreshing new greenery of early summer."

The best time to view

There are also weeping cherry trees and mountain cherry trees in the grounds of Naritasan (about 500 trees), Sakuranoyama Park (about 300 trees), Katori Shrine (about 1000 trees), Narita Yume Farm (about 300 trees), Sakura Castle Ruins Park (more than 1000 trees), and Chiba Castle (about 30 trees), which are in full bloom from late March to early April.
At Funabashi Andersen Park, the rows of cherry trees that stretch out on both sides from the gate will take your breath away. About 800 trees of 10 different varieties are in full bloom from mid-March to the end of April, allowing you to enjoy the cherry blossoms for a long time.
